While the ADM boys’ basketball team wasn’t able to hold off the Winterset Huskies on Tuesday, January 8th, as they lost 69-67, senior Ben Larson sure did everything in his power to give the Tigers a great chance.  Larson was the only player on either side to hit ten field goals on the night, including three 3-pointers, and he was also 2 of 2 from the free throw line.  ADM head coach Aaron Mager talked after the game about the senior’s gutsy performance in the loss.

“He’s a trooper, I mean the kid prepares well, he plays well every night, he’s super consistent, his attitude’s been great. I think he’d tell you he’d like to have a few possessions defensively back where maybe he got a little relaxed too, I think we all did collectively, and that’d be about the only complaint I could throw his direction.  He did a nice job of just being tough with the ball and making good, quality shots.”

Larson buried two shots that were well beyond the arc and nearly did it again with under 10 seconds remaining and with two defenders in his face.  Unfortunately for Larson and the Tigers the shot, which would have tied the game at 68, bounced off both sides of the rim before jumping out.

Before the break Larson was averaging 18.1 points per game and he’s started 2013 even hotter, putting up 23 and 25 points in his two home games against Ballard and Winterset.  The Tigers are headed to Carlisle next on Tuesday, January 15th, and all the action can be heard on 107.9, K-107.
