There’s no real change in the drought monitor this week, but yesterday’s rain may help things down the road.
According to the National Climatic Data Center, all of Dallas and Guthrie Counties and the southern three-quarters of Greene County continue to experience severe drought conditions. The remaining portion of Greene County is still classified as in an extreme drought.
Totals from yesterday’s rainfall have not been entered yet, so there is no measurable precipitation on the books locally yet in 2013. According to the National Weather Service, Perry and Jefferson usually see just under an inch of precipitation in January and Guthrie Center typically gets around 0.8 inches.
