The ADM girls’ basketball team knew that to defeat ranked opponent Winterset on Tuesday, January 8th, they would need to take advantage of any rust the Huskies had accumulated in their three weeks off in between games.  Head coach Brett Watson talked about how much of an impact jumping on the Huskies early made in the game.

“That was definitely huge.  We talked about just coming out with no mercy, coming out with no fear, just attacking and going at it and I think we got up 7-0.,” Watson pointed out.  “And not only did we come out in the first quarter but also the third quarter too.  We talked about at halftime their coach was gonna get after them a little bit, they’re gonna give their big intensity coming after us, we matched that and we increased it even more.  That was the difference, the way we started the game and started the third quarter.  So that was very awesome to see.”

ADM not only lead the entire game in their 47-40 victory, but also outscored Winterset in the first three quarters, 18-13, 8-7, and 13-6.  That eleven-point lead going into the fourth quarter was plenty of cushion to keep the late-surging Huskies at bay.

The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, January 15th, in Carlisle.  The Lincoln Savings Bank Pre-Game Show begins at 5:45 PM, tip-off at 6 PM, on 107.9, K-107.
