5th ranked Perry will travel to Grimes tonight to take on 7th ranked Dallas Center Grimes in a 6:00 game on KDLS.  Both teams currently share the top spot with identical 6-1 records with Perry’s lone loss coming to Dallas Center Grimes in overtime, while DCG’s one setback in conference was a 3 point loss to Winterset.  Perry Head Coach MIke Long talks about how the Phillies were able to knock off his team back in early December.

“We simply did not execute that night.  We shot something like 33 percent from the floor which is well below what we have done through out the course of the season.  Our defense was sloppy as well, our guards did not cut their penetration and put it our post players in bad position helping out.  We need to match their phsycial style tonight.”

DCG did not shoot the ball well either in the first go around, going 0-17 from 3 point land.  The Phillies are led by Dani Heritage’s 12 points and 8 rebounds per game while forwards Kennedy Jennings and Rosa Lexi provide DCG with 2 athletic post players inside.

“Lexi was the girl that caught us off guard the first time around.  We weren’t expecting to go off like she did.  We will be ready tonight.  Our success always starts on the defensive side of the ball and that will be the key once again tonight.”

Perry’s Clair Marburger currently leads the conference in scoring averaging 20 points per game, while Maggie Lowe leads the conference in assists with 84 and senior Frankie Eklund leads the conference in steals with 42.  Tip off tonight is 6:00 with the HyVee pregame show at 5:45 on KDLS 1310.
