Greene County Sheriff’s Office assisted with a semi-tractor rollover on Monday.

In the early morning hours on Monday, a semi-tractor and trailer was traveling eastbound on Highway 30 when the driver lost control and crossed over westbound traffic at L Avenue and 220th Street near Jefferson.  The semi rolled into the north ditch and ended up on its side.  The semi was carrying a refrigerated load of boxed apples which had to be removed by hand.

Iowa Department of Transportation officials along with Greene County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene.  The semi was headed for a Fareway Foodstore Warehouse in Carroll.  Another semi tractor and trailer was called to haul the apples the rest of the way.  It took 10 men and about three hours to remove the apples from the damaged semi to the other one.

The driver, Dennis Boysen of Wentworth, South Dakota is charged with Failure to Maintain Control.  There were no injuries.  The total damage to the semi tractor, trailer and product is unknown at this time.
