The Perry basketball teams will host Ballard and ADM tonight and tomorrow and fans will have plenty of opportunites to get involved.  Tonight marks the Coaches vs Cancer classic.  The Coaches vs Cancer Classic is  a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer.

Activities Include:

·         “Whiteout to Block-Out Cancer” with all spectators from both schools encouraged to wear white in unified support of this effort.

·         $1 “Wall of Remembrance” for those affected directly by cancer.

·         A dinner offered by “Relay for Life” with all proceeds going to the fight v. cancer.

·         A special speaker, ­­­­­­Martha Stetzel between games and “48 Second Drill”.

·         An American Cancer Society Information Booth.

·         All fans are asked to remain silent during the first minute of the varsity boy’s game signifying our efforts to “Silence Cancer”.

·         Public Service announcements during the contest breaks.

·         Coaches wearing sneakers in support of “Suits & Sneakers” for cancer awareness.

 

Saturday, fans will have a chance to cheer on different members of the community in a basketball shoot out between Cleanworks Auto Wash and Perry Paint and Design.   Cleanworks Auto Wash and team Captain Susan Brelsford  will have an all guys team of Cody Ichmeir, Dan Marburger, Brett Ehlers, Shawn Kenney and a surprise guest shoot 3 point shots in a certain amount of time on one end of the court.  Meanwhile on the other end of the court, at the same time,  Jenny Ecklund will captain an all girls team led by former Jaytette Cassie Hagar Smith and 4 sharp shooting ladies to try and hit  10 3-point shots.  The boys have to hit 12 3-point shots.  If the boys win, Perry Paint and Design will make a financial contribution to the Perry Boys Basketball program, if the girls win, the Cleanworks will donate money to the Perry Girls team.  Come cheer on and have fun Saturday.  Perry and ADM will tip off at 1:00 Saturday and all the action can be heard on KDLS.
