The Greene County Sheriff’s Office released their 2012 statistics.

Sheriff Steve Haupert states that there were 371 inmates booked into the county jail in 2012 with 14 of those inmates from other counties.  The highest amount of inmates were booked in August with 40.
The number of calls handled by the Sheriff’s Office has increased since 2005.  Sheriff Haupert says that in 2005, there were 1,565 calls with an average of 4.2 per day and in 2012 there were 2,134 calls with an average of 5.8 calls per day.

The number of calls are broken down by investigations, assistance, offenses, civil matters, court and traffic and arrests.  The highest numbers were traffic and arrests.  Deputies issued 624 traffic citations and 486 warnings to drivers.  There were 283 arrests and only 25 Operating While Intoxicated tickets issued.

General offenses were separated by towns in Greene County.  The largest number of calls were from Grand Junction with 331.  The next highest number was 213 in Scranton and Jefferson had 24.

Other reports were 87 thefts, 110 harassment, 66 fire assistance and 191 careless driving calls.
