The City of Perry is in the process of working with the Iowa Energy Bank to make some energy saving improvements.

The plan is to put in more efficient lighting in the downtown business and cultural district and upgrade the heating and ventilation system at the public safety building.

While the city is current working through the budget process, City Administrator Butch Niebuhr says they’re hoping these projects can save them some money in the future with utility costs.

Butch says with RAGBRAI coming to town this summer, the grand opening of the Raccoon River Valley Trail’s north loop and Fly Iowa at the airport they’re hoping the Parks Department and other entities will see more revenue than they conservatively estimated.
