The Perry School Board held their regular meeting last night.

At the meeting the district’s audit report was presented and approved.  The report shows both general fund revenues and increases increased in fiscal year 2012.  The general fund balance also increased by more than $4 million during the last fiscal year.

Next the board heard an English Language Learners update which touched on the current levels of staffing and funding for the program, along with an update on what is being taught to students and how.

Superintendent Lynn Ubben then spoke about her recent visit to the state capitol and updated the board on the fact that they still don’t know what will happen with allowable growth for the next year and are waiting on the legislature.  She also gave a brief facilities update.

The board then approved revisions to board policies, approved a school funding resolution which was proposed to all school districts in the state to try and motivate lawmakers to set a reasonable allowable growth.  The board then held a public hearing and after no comment approved the 2013-2014 school calendar with the first day on August 21st and the last day scheduled for May 29th.

Activity sharing agreements were also approved for soccer, bowling and boys swimming.  Along with the retirement of one kitchen staff member and the purchase of state wrestling tournament t-shirts for qualifying athletes and coaches.
