There was a joint meeting between Jefferson-Scranton and East Greene School Districts last night.

The two boards first appointed seven members to the Greene County School Board of Directors.  They are all five members of the Jefferson-Scranton School Board: President Sam Harding, Vice-President Mark Peters, Teresa Hagen, Jeff Lamoureux and Dr. David Ohrt and two members from the East Greene School District which are Ashley Johnston and Susan Burkett.

The Greene County School Board will have its first meeting on Wednesday, March 13th.  They will select officers and be sworn in at that meeting.

Other agenda items discussed were possibly having to hire new teacher positions with Jefferson-Scranton having six retirements and one resignation and East Greene having one retirement.  There were scenarios brought up about how to handle transporting kids for next year to potentially set up the reorganization period on July 1, 2014.  Right now, some grades are more lopsided than others.  The Boards also talked about summer school programs and if they can be combined before Greene County goes completely into effect.

Other technical and financial aspects discussed were transferring of properties, bank accounts and setting up salary schedules and looking at the master schedule starting in 2014.
