All area middle and high schoolers are invited to the Hunger Games: Adventures in Survival party at the Greene County Community Center on Saturday.

The six county libraries will be hosting a teen themed party with games, snacks and prizes.  The public libraries of Greene County wanted to celebrate the popular book series Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and the release of the newest film in the series “Catching Fire” slated to come out later this year.

As a special treat, Jefferson native Don Orris will demonstrate his archery skills and talk about Olympic Gold Medalist and Jefferson native Doreen Wilber’s statute that honors her at the northeast corner of the community center.  Jefferson Library Director Jane Millard says they wanted to tie in a local angle into the party and Orris provides just that.

“They’ve enjoyed the books, they’ve enjoyed the Hunger Games movie.  (But) did they really know that we have a local connection to archery and bowhunting?  But also, our Olympic gold medalist Doreen Wilber.”

The event will be on Saturday from 2-5pm at the community center in Jefferson.  The Greene County Supervisors are sponsoring the free event.  Contact your local public library for more information.
