The students of the West Central Valley Music Department will present “The Music Man” at the High School Commons tonight and tomorrow with performances starting at 7:00 P.M. and invites the public to attend.

The musical, with story, music and lyrics by Meredith Wilson, is set in Mason City.  The play concerns con man Harold Hill posing as a professional bandleader who talks townspeople out of their money by promising to create a kid’s band that will keep their young folks out of trouble.  The town librarian and piano teacher, Marian Paroo, sees right through him, but changes her mind about turning him in when he helps her young brother overcome his fear of social situations due to his lisp.  She begins falling in love with him, and Harold, even at the risk of being caught, begins to fall in love with her.

WCV High School Secretary Deb Dougherty says the students have been practicing their lines for some time now and, even though the past snowstorms have hampered rehearsals, the students are looking forward to the performances.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.  Passes will not be accepted for these performances.
