When the annual Jefferson-Scranton Football Clinic is held this weekend the presenters will cover a wide range of levels. The Friday night session on March 8 will be held at the Power Lift factory along east Highway 30 in Jefferson. Indianapolis Colts strength and conditioning coach Roger Marandino will speak at 9 p.m. Marandino has been in Indy for one year after a year as an assistant with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island from 1995-2011.

Zach Mathers also will speak at Power Lift on Friday night. He begins at 7 p.m. and Mathers is currently the head strength and conditioning coach at Sioux Falls College in South Dakota. The Cougars went 13-1 on the football field last fall and was the national runner-up. He helped the program transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II.

The Saturday portion of the clinic will be on March 9 at Greene County High School in Jefferson. U. of Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz is the headline speaker in the theatre at 10:30 a.m. Other college coaches speaking on Saturday include Iowa State University wide receivers coach Todd Sturdy, Jim Glogowski of Simpson College in Indianola, Larry Atwater of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, and Adam Bisenius of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. Some 18 high school coaches are also scheduled to present either Friday or Saturday.

Dean Lansman, Greene County’s head football coach, is the clinic director. He said around 250 coaches had preregistered and he expects that number to climb as the clinic draws nearer.
