Continuing our in-depth look at the City of Perry’s budget for the 2014… today we’ll outline some of the requested capital expenditures.

Some capital expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year include the replacement of a vehicle and four computers for the police department, the fire department wants to place the walk-in door and bunker gear. Requests from the street department include a new Ford truck, new snow plow for an existing truck, carbide snowplow blades and domes for sidewalk replacement.

$80,00 for street milling and overlay, $15,500 for tree removal and trimming and $27,500 for library materials have already been approved.

The parks department will receive capital funds for a new mower, mulch for the playground, turf development and restroom improvements.  The McCreary Community Building will be purchasing new electronic items, appliances, fitness equipment, an indoor batting cage and a pool chemical tester.

The cemetery department plans to purchase a new mower and administration has requested a new copier and document managing software but those will be purchased through leftover funds at the end of the 2013 fiscal year.

The fire department has also requested the purchase of a new pumper truck which will cost approximately $480,000 and would be paid for with a debt levy.  That purchase has not yet been approved.
