The Dallas County Board of Supervisors will present the fiscal year 2014 budget to the public at a special meeting tomorrow evening at 7pm.

Supervisors Chairman Mark Hanson says overall, the process went pretty well this year.

“This year’s budget was a little easier, and I say that only because there’s been tremendous growth in Dallas County and so there’s been more valuation that’s taxable that’s been new and added.  So when you have some new valuation it allows you to spread the tax across the entire county instead of just one particular pocket within the county” says Hanson.

Hanson says though it is a long process, figuring out the budget is the single most important job the supervisors do each year and they take it very seriously.

Overall the county levy will decrease slightly during the next fiscal year to 7.82 per thousand dollars of valuation.
