MidAmerican Energy is providing $225,000 to 80 cities and community organizations throughout its Iowa service territory in support of its Trees Please! Program.   The program promotes energy conservation, helps the environment and supports community beautification projects.  The grants are based on the individual merits of the project, the benefit to the community and the ability to obtain matching funds.

Recently the City of Stuart was awarded $1,000 from MidAmerican Energy.  Stuart Chamber of Commerce Reporter Audrey Wells says their recent accomplishments include landscaping around the park gazebo, putting up the new community billboard downtown, purchasing new planters, planting and maintaining the planters, painting garbage cans downtown and at the park, buying, and setting up and taking down Christmas ground lights for the park.

The Chamber thanks MidAmerican Energy in this award and hopes to continue with beautification efforts in Stuart Wells added.
