The Perry School Board set a public hearing date for their April meeting to discuss the proposed fiscal year 2013-2014 budget.

Superintendent Lynn Ubben says school districts must have their certified budgets submitted before the deadline even though they still have no direction from the state legislature in terms of allowable growth.

Ubben says this puts the district in a dilemma that unfortunately they’ve had to deal with before.

Shesays districts will certify at their highest tax rate because you can always go down, but can’t increase once it is set.  Still, even at the highest tax rate the district will still have a decline of 63 cents per thousand during the next fiscal year.
