The Greene County Middle School invites the public to its production of “Dr. Evil and the Basket of Kittens” at the high school auditorium tomorrow night.

Director Angie Pederson says the show is about Dr. Evil, played by middle schooler Jack Schilling, wants to rule the world by using a death ray.  However, he needs financing, so he calls his evil council together.  Before they get to his house, Dr. Evil is surprised by a basket of kittens at his doorstep and he has to get rid of them before the council shows up.

Pederson comments that the kinds of plays she tries to do are ones where a variety of people audition.

“I like to do scripts that have zombies, space travel, vampires and, well this one Dr. Evil, because its pretty easy to get middle school girls to do a play.  But to get middle school guys involved its got to be something special.  So I sort of lean towards plays that I know I can get a real variety of people to come and try out.”

One challenge has been the weather.  Pederson notes that this week has been especially tough with school getting cancelled and early outs, rehearsals were cut short and only started yesterday.  However, Pederson says the kids have been great and everyone works very well together.

The performance will be at the Greene County High School Auditorium tomorrow night at 7pm.  Admission is free with refreshments provided during intermission.  A list of the cast members are below.
