With the much talked about strategic planning session coming up on Monday, March 18th at the Jefferson City Hall Council Chambers, important speakers are lining up.

Greene County Extension Coordinator Michael Cooley says they have a guest speaker coming to the meeting to talk about different trends within Greene County.

The Director of Regional Economics and Community Analysis at Iowa State University Liesl Eathington will be one of the keynote presenters.  Cooley comments on what she will be telling the public about on Monday night.

“She has been working on a research project specifically for Greene County to take a look at the population trends and some of the factors affecting population in Greene County.  As we start down this road of strategically putting some strong effort into looking at population retention and potential population growth in Greene County.”

Cooley states that Eathington’s work in employment and population trends are two important topics of the meeting.  She also has expertise in industrial structure and labor characteristics.  He feels she will be a much needed resource during the brainstorming session.

The strategic population planning meeting will be at 6pm and it is open to the public.
