The final party for participants in Jefferson Library’s adult winter reading program will be on Saturday.

Library Director Jane Millard says this event is a culmination of the two month long program where participants get to celebrate what they learned about the theme and are given prizes donated from local area businesses.

There are 40 participants in this year’s adult reading program.  Millard notes that the theme is “Read Iowa” and there were activities that people had to do to earn prizes at the end of the program.

“We enjoyed learning more about Iowa authors and books that are set in Iowa or about Iowa.  For the whole reading program, there were three parts to it:  reading, attending programs and doing activity sheets and all of those things helped us learn more about Iowa.”

In addition, participants had to record how many pages they read and Millard explains that the individual who read the most will receive a prize.  However, the only requirement was that some of the books had to be about Iowa, but you could also read other topics and genres too.

The party will be held in the basement of the Jefferson Library on Saturday from 10-11am.
