The City of Panora met in regular session last week.

The disposition of Panora’s two fire trucks was discussed.  These trucks have been advertised for sale with no bids or inquiries.  After discussion, the council members decided to let the fire department decide a course of action, possibly consigning one or both of the trucks to auction.

A budget totaling approximately $4.2 million for the fiscal year beginning July 1 was approved.  The tax levy on regular property is $17.00 per $1,000 assessed valuation and $3.00 on ag land.  Construction payments made the present budget more than double what it will be for next year.

Water revenue bonds issued in May of 2001 totaling $750,000 mature next year and will be paid off a year early.

A decision will be made if Region 12 Council of Governments will do a housing assessment update.  The last such plan was done in 1998-1999.

City Administrator Lisa Grossman reported necessary construction easements have been signed for installing 4-1/2 blocks of storm sewer in NW Panora.   Grossman will attend the annual Iowa Municipal Management Institute in Ames for 3 days this week.

A written recap of 2012 for the Little Panther Daycare was given.  It serves 31 families and 40-42 children daily.  It has several full-time and six part time employees.  The final mortgage payment will be made in June.
