The Raccoon Valley Snow Chasers held its last meeting of the year March 7 and elected Mike Patten of Redfield as its new President.  The Patten family is well known in the central Iowa snowmobile community for their work in the sport, including keeping and maintaining the club’s trail groomers.

Other officers elected were Laura Scheuermann of Jefferson as Secretary-Treasurer, and Jim Wyckoff of Cedar Rapids as Media Director.   Other officers of the club include Vice President Rod Scheuermann of Jefferson and Safety Director Craig of Jefferson.

Patten paid tribute to outgoing club President Eric Chrystal and outgoing Secretary-Treasurer Rhonda Chrystal, both of Jefferson.  He praised their efforts and hard work the past few years, including forming the club and keeping state and local officials in addition to businesses involved in recognizing and supporting the sport in Iowa.

In other matters, it was agreed Craig Flack would present a $500 check to Quinn Flack of Jefferson to go toward her post high school education.  The money was raised from the “Curt Flack Memorial Grass Drags”.  Quinn is the daughter of the late Curt Flack of Jefferson who was a long time snowmobile enthusiast.

Club President Patten reported that Dennis Perrigo of Redfield is presently working on a new map for the club’s trail system.

Special thanks and awards were given to club members Richard Patten, Jackie Patten, Jim Smith and Kevin Sandquist for their ongoing support for the club and for the sport in Iowa.
