The annual Glidden Haggai Masonic Lodge charity auction is tonight.

Coordinator Bob Linde says that this event has been incredibly successful since its beginnings some 15 years ago.  Last year, they raised over $20,000.  Linde comments that all the proceeds from the auction go back to community projects.

Some of the projects that the money is used for have been going to different town’s fire departments and school-related functions.  Linde points out a recent project that took place this week.

“Well one of the things we’ve just done this week, the state fire marshall had granted our fire department 100 smoke alarms.  They have been in the process of getting a list of people that need smoke alarms in the area.  They needed more so the community auction bought 100 more smoke alarms that be installed in houses this weekend.”

There will be a range of auction items such as a six bedroom cabin in Dillon, Colorado to an autographed basketball by Iowa State men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg.  Linde wants to thank the community support over the years for making the auction a successful event.

The auction takes place at the Lincoln Club in Glidden.  The doors open at 6pm with a meal served and the auction will start at 7pm.  Admission to the event is free and a free will donation will be accepted.
