The Iowa Football Coaches Association have selected Raccoon Valley Radio’s own Doug Rieder for the Distinguished Service Award.

University of Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz who will be presenting the award and Rieder describes how it feels to receive an award like this from an Iowa football icon.

“I’m tickled.  I’m a University of Iowa Hawkeye football fan anyway, but even if I wasn’t to be sharing the same stage with someone of that caliber is going to be a great thrill.  And just the fact that Greene County head football coach Dean Lansman thought enough of me to nominate me for this prestigious honor I’m very thankful.”

Rieder has also received a media award from the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association.  Through it all, Rieder comments that he’s been very fortunate to work with great people and excellent student-athletes.

The ceremony is at the Marriott Hotel in Coralville.
