After a slow start at the plate in his senior season at Northwest Missouri State University, Jefferson-Scranton graduate Eric Swain exploded late last week vs. Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, MO. Swain, the Bearcats third baseman, went four for five and drove in seven runs while scoring two, on April 5 during a 16-3 victory. His four hits included two doubles and two singles.

NWMS lost 14-13 on April 6 in the first game of a twin bill vs. SW Baptist. Swain hit a three-run homer and walked twice in the loss. The nightcap saw the Bearcats romp to a 31-7 victory with Swain getting a single, double, and two walks.

For the three-game series, Swain went 7-12 batting with 10 RBI, three doubles, a homer, and five runs scored. His batting average went from .235 to .269 in the past week and he went from 13 to 23 runs driven in.

The Bearcats are 12-23 overall and host William Jewell College in one nine inning game on April 10.
