A very young Perry boys soccer team is off to a 6-2 start and 3-1 in the Raccoon River Conference. Head Coach Gary Overla is not surprised by his team’s hot start. “We really work on fundamentals a lot in practice. It’s not like football where you have 50-75 plays to choose from and can work on different aspects each day. Soccer is pretty fundamental with not a lot of plays. You go out, execute and take care of the repetitions in practice.”
The repetitions are working for Overla’s Bluejays. Their only conference loss of the season as a double overtime setback with Dallas Center Grimes 2-1. Perry’s game last night with Boone was postponed because of wet grounds.
