Yesterday the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session, items up for discussion were a shingle program update and a United States Postal Service – new mail distribution.

Stephen Patterson spoke about how much of a break the local shingle recyclers will receive when depositing their materials for recycling. The board talked about the option of offering them a discount from the normal rate of $45.

Pat McDaniel, post office representative out of Des Moines spoke to the board about the possibility of a CBU or collection box unit, being added at the Guthrie County Courthouse, to help with mail distribution, and to cut back on the cost of having the carrier walk around the courthouse. She says this would save USPS exactly $201 a year.

If the board decides on the option, installation will be free, this is a completely voluntary option for them, although if they wait, it could become mandatory in the next year.

The Board of Supervisors meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 9 A.M. at the Guthrie County Courthouse.
