Clothesline ProjectThe Greene County Coalition Against Domestic Violence in conjunction with Sexual Assault Awareness Month held a Clothesline Project event yesterday at Greene County High School.

Assault Care Center Extending Shelter and Support Greene County Outreach Coordinator Linda Wishman says the Clothesline Project allows women affected by domestic violence to express their emotions by decorating a shirt.  Some shirts are for those women who have survived sexual assault and others honor children who have been sexually abused.

Wishman describes why they have events like the Clothesline Project.

“People may walk by and they may not stop and talk to us but at least they are getting the information and something is registering.  So that maybe when they see something on CNN or hear something on your radio station, it sparks more of an interest.  And you would be surprised how many volunteers we get that way from people who saw an event and were inspired to get involved on the issues.”

If you are interested in learning more about ACCESS services or the Clothesline Project, you can call Wishman or any staff member at 1-866-432-3606.  Wishman would also like to invite any individuals to their next meeting at the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson on Friday at noon.
