The weather is beginning to change and the season to start growing your crops is beginning. Weather conditions for April have given Guthrie County a fairly decent amount of rain, but we are still experiencing a moderate drought.

Farm Manager, Robert Reynolds says that he has heard that we are still 11 inches short of what we need.

He goes on to say, that it’s pretty wet, but it’s drying out well, and that you could possibly see farmers begin to work on their crops starting this weekend, or the first part of next week, if the weather cooperates.

There should be no worries about planting corn late this year and Reynolds says as long as they start between May 10th and 15th, everything should stay on schedule.

He does mention that we need more sub soil to keep the crops growing, and as long as we get the moisture we need, the season should turn out well.
