Farming is a tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation and Pat Doud is no different. He has sons who have begun farming and are taking control of the farms while he lets off the gas a little bit.

He is still active and does his fair share of work, but as a 52 year veteran farmer, he knows what is necessary to see our crops grow this year.

As has been reported Guthrie County is not out of the drought conditions yet, but Doud sees the effects the recent moisture has had.

The future of the crops relies heavily on Mother Nature and what kind of hand she deals us, says Doud.

Doud encourages everyone to be safe and not rush with their crops, we aren’t starting as early as last year, and with the advances of technology, farming has changed quite a bit.

The farming season is beginning to rapidly pick up speed, and will hopefully produce bountiful amounts of crops for all Iowa farmers.
