The Greene County Coalition Against Domestic Violence is partnering with Assault Care Center Extending Shelter and Support in Story County to hold a community meeting in Jefferson on Thursday.

ACCESS serves Greene County as well as Story and Boone counties.  ACCESS Executive Director Angie Schreck talks about why they need Greene County volunteers to support the program.

“Greene County in particular is an area where we are looking for volunteers who are local (and) who are aware of local resources and just some of the nuances of the community to help the survivors of domestic and sexual violence.”

Greene County Outreach Coordinator Linda Wishman says last week’s Clothesline Project at the Greene County High School is one way that people can express their feelings and experiences with domestic violence.  She comments that the community meeting will be about other volunteer activities and events that people can join in the county.

The meeting will be at First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson from 5:30-6:30pm on Thursday with snacks and refreshments served.
