On Monday at 12:31pm, Greene County Sheriff Steve Haupert says Wayne Lee King, 58 of Churdan was involved in a farm fatality at 100th Street and H Avenue.

Sheriff Haupert states that results from an autopsy from the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny and assistance from Greene County Medical Services determined that King was crushed between a rear tailgate of a pickup and the front of an anhydrous tank.

King was standing near an anhydrous tank while waiting for the pickup to the tank and driver of the pickup was unaware that King was behind him and the pickup struck King crushing his body.

Farnhamville Rescue transported King to the Greene County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff Haupert wants to remind the public again about farm safety.

“We’ve had way too many farm accidents and I would just like everyone to slow down and take their time, get plenty of rest, being safe each and every day and need to go home to their loved ones at night.  And I would just like everyone to slow down and be safe.”

This is the second farm fatality in Greene County in the past three days.
