droughtThough this week’s May snow storm wasn’t welcomed by many… the precipitation does continue to help relive dry conditions across the state.

Guthrie Center ended April with the most precipitation, receiving more than 7 inches.  Jefferson saw just over 6 inches last month and Perry had just under 6 inches.

May’s average rainfall for Perry and Jefferson is just over 4.5 inches while Guthrie Center typically sees more than 5 inches.  So far both Perry and Jefferson have recorded more than an inch and a half of precipitation already this month, with nothing being recorded in Guthrie Center yet.

The entire Raccoon River Valley continues to experience abnormally dry conditions overall with the northwest portion of Greene County still being classified as in a moderate drought.
