Iowa high school track & field teams in all four classes will be attempting to qualify events today for the May 16-18 Coed State Championships. Today’s State Qualifying Meets will be held at various locations throughout the state. ADM and Perry go to a Class 3A qualifying meet in Winterset while Greene County goes to a 3A meet in Nevada. Most of the 2A schools in the listening area go to Ogden while both Guthrie Center and Van Meter host Class 1A meets today.

There are eight State Qualifying Meets in Class 2A and Class 3A and 12 meets in 1A. Class 4A has six qualifying meets. All four classes qualify 24 in every event for the State Meet, regardless of whether it’s an individual event or a relay.

In a Spring comprised of a lot of bad weather for track & field, athletes, coaches, and fans hope for good weather today. In case a meet is postponed, the makeup date is Friday, May 10.
