The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a train derailment on the Union Pacific rail line just east of Grand Junction. The derailment involved an eastbound coal train and a westbound stackable container freight train. Several rail cars from the eastbound coal train derailed and struck the westbound train that was not moving at the time of the wreck.  The Union Pacific Railroad reported that a total of 35 rail cars sustained some type of damage and the rail line is expected to be operational by Friday morning. The Grand Junction Fire Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office and Union Pacific Railroad personnel covered the derailment.

A deputy was asked to check on the welfare of 5 cats in Scranton. The deputy found the location of the cats and determined that a neighbor was feeding the cats in an abandoned building.

Several E-911 calls were received from different locations in the Grand Junction area. The calls were GPS mapped to three different locations by Greene County dispatchers. A deputy was checking into who may have initiated the calls.

A deputy helped resolve a family domestic dispute in Grand Junction.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
