First responders from several Greene County agencies responded to a water emergency call at Spring Lake Park Tuesday afternoon
Sheriff Steve Haupert says a boy wandered away from his mother and two siblings by the concession stand on a old railroad bed. He states that the boy was on the east side on a boat dock and the mother and two siblings were on the west side of the concession stand when the boy apparently fell into the water due to the strong winds. Sheriff Haupert talks about the rescue effort.
“There was Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Junction Fire and the Greene County Conservation Parks personnel were all in the water, with their clothes on. And someone did retrieve him a little ways off the dock and he was brought out, CPR was performed (and) he was transported immediately to the Greene County Medical Center. And at this time, I do not know his condition.”
Sheriff Haupert comments that the name and age of the boy has not been released. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more details as they become official.
