At 2:20pm tomorrow, Governor Terry Branstad will be signing a proclamation declaring May as Organ, Tissue and Bone Marrow Awareness Month.

Organizer of A Token of Love and Jefferson resident MeLinda Madison says she’s been working on this with the governor’s office since November and now it has come to fruition.

Madison states that with the governor signing her proclamation, she is reaching the masses, not just a specific group of people.  In April, an awareness event was held in Jefferson to educate people and to raise funds for organ, tissue and bone marrow donor networks.

She comments that this topic is very personal to her and she hopes the people will sign up to become donors because your legacy could live on through someone else.
