congrats_seniorsThis weekend will be the start to high school graduation season throughout Iowa.  On Sunday, Greene County and Paton-Churdan high schools will both hold their commencement ceremonies.

At Greene County High School the class of 2013 is made up of 84 seniors.  This year’s Valedictorians are Lauren Stein, Tory Beger and Quinn Flack.  The two students that will speak are Stein and Beger.

Paton-Churdan will be graduating 13 students.

Principal Brian Phillips says this year’s graduation ceremony is different in that for the first time both Jefferson-Scranton and East Greene students will graduate together at the same commencement.

“This is a really great graduation as far as the unity building that we’ve had all year with our unity buttons.  And the coming together with the East Greene kids and the Jefferson-Scranton kids both having prom at the same time and this will be the first year we’ve had graduation together.”

On Sunday, Greene County High School’s graduation will be at the middle school in Jefferson from 2-3:15pm and Paton-Churdan’s graduation will be at the gym in Churdan 2pm.
