The Perry City Council approved an amendment to the current fiscal year budget at their meeting this week.

Though the amendment was for $2.9 million, City Administrator Butch Niebuhr says a lot of it had to do with projects and most of the time funding for such projects don’t go right along with the City’s timeline.

Niebuhr says there was also an additional $29,000 in operational expenses, due largely in part to vehicle costs for several city departments.

So even though budgets are completed ahead of time and can be difficult to predict, Niebuhr says he’s happy with the way things turned out.

“I would say overall, looking at preparation for that budget it was a pretty good job.  Revenues are pretty much on stream, there wasn’t much revenue that we had to adjust other than funding for capital projects.  And same thing on the expenditure side, it was mainly expending on capital projects, other than that excess for mostly vehicle repairs” says Niebuhr.

The current fiscal year ends on June 30th.
