DIG into Reading LogoThe Jefferson Public Library is gearing up for its kids summer reading program.

Library Director Jane Millard says this year’s theme is “Dig Into Reading”.  All children from 4 years-old through fifth grade are encouraged to join the Jefferson Library to explore prehistoric times and archeology.

Some of the crafts for this year’s summer reading program are fossil cookies, making cravemen art and movie days.  The program ends with a final party on July 29th.

Millard comments that each kid will have an activity packet to help support their summer learning through fun events.  She talks about two major events that are associated with the summer reading program.

“The Blank Park Zoo will be bringing animals to their final party and we also have a ventriloquist coming to all six libraries in Greene County.  And he will be performing as Iowa Jones: Raiders of the Lost Books.”

Registration and the program begins on Monday, May 25th at the Jefferson Library.  Call Millard at 386-4415 for more information.
