The Jefferson Water/Sewer and Street/Sanitation Committees met yesterday in regular session.

City Administrator Mike Palmer told the committees that another minor summer project is going to be painting the metal light poles in a one block radius around the courthouse square.  There are about 32 poles and the color will be black to match the light poles around the immediate square.

There was a recommendation made by City Engineer John Milligan to re-work the curb structures around the courthouse square so the public so use walkers and canes don’t struggle to step up to the sidewalk from the street.

Other street project discussed were re-doing the alleyway behind the Sierra Theatre and repaving the back parking lot behind City Hall in 2014.

Finally, the committees talked about establishing policies for the in-town yard waste dump site.  There were concerns brought up about contractors and other commercial entities dumping materials at the public site when it’s strictly open for private residents only.  No action was taken on the topic.
