As we prepare for more graduations, one here in Guthrie County that has not yet been celebrated is that of the West Central Valley Wildcats. This year’s class has 57 graduating seniors who will go on to expand their horizons and journey’s outside of high school.

West Central Valley High School Principal Debbie Wilson says that it is hard to watch her students leave, “they become my own and I care for each of them, but I know they must leave and make their own way.”

Principal Wilson goes on to say that a lot of the graduating seniors have plans after high school, whether it be post-secondary schooling, military enrollment or full-time work.

Principal Wilson says that each year she has a message to the freshmen, “this journey may take four years, but we really only have 36 months together.”

She says that this year’s class’s academic prowess was on display when they scored the highest of any class on the statewide achievement testing.
