bank-robbery-suspect-300x169Two suspects are in custody in California in connection with the bank robbery in Stuart earlier this week.

According to the Stuart Police Department, a male and female were arrested in Los Angeles and charges in the May 20th robbery at First State Bank are pending.

Tuesday, May 21st Stuart Police and the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office searched a room at the Super 8 in Adair and were able to locate evidence from the bank robbery that linked the two suspects to the crime.

Officers were able to track the suspects, 28 year-old Eugene Palmer Jr. and 19 year-old Hannah Elizabeth Reisinger, both of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, to a hotel in Hollywood.  Friday, Los Angeles police and the FBI’s Los Angeles Fugitive Task Force were notified and responded to the hotel where they saw a man and a woman walking towards a vehicle that matched the description given to them by Stuart officers.

LAPD Detective Anthony Verret says “we saw a car that matched the description and when the suspects walked up to the car we immediately took them into custody.

Stuart Police Chief Dave Reha says “we put a lot of energy and late nights into this investigation.  We wanted to make sure that we caught the individuals involved as quickly as possible and allow the citizesn of Stuart to feel safe that the individuals involved would not be striking again”.

Both suspects will be extradited to Iowa to face charges.
