Two Dallas County students have been selected for National Merit Scholarships.

Samuel Wallace from Dallas Center-Grimes High School has been selected for a National Merit University of Iowa scholarship.  His area of study is undecided at this time.

Joel Berner from Waukee High School was selected of a Baylor University National Merit Scholarship.  He plans to study law and intellectual property.

The National Merit Scholarships are awarded to approximately 2,500 students across the county each year.  The awards range from $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.  Winners are selected from the list of finalists based on test scores from the Preliminary SAT and merit scholarship qualifying test students take as juniors.
