Rolfe Blaess Recording StudioThe Greene County Historical Society invites the public to it’s free monthly program tomorrow in Jefferson.

Organizer Chuck Offenburger says the featured speaker will be Jefferson native Rolfe Blaess.  He notes that Blaess will be talking about and sharing audio clips of his time in radio and the historical beginnings of Jefferson’s radio station KGRA.

Blaess grew up in the show business with his father Herb who started Blaess Shoe Store in 1932.  Through his interest in recorded voices and music, Blaess established a satellite radio station in Jefferson in the early 1960’s.  Then in the 1980’s Blaess partnered with an electronic store owner Jack Lyon and launched KLSN in 1988.

KLSN eventually became KGRA in Jefferson and is now owned by Raccoon Valley Radio along with KDLS in Perry and KKRF in Stuart.

The free program will be at the United Methodist Church at 1pm on Friday and the public is invited to attend.
