This year’s legislative session involved major topics which turned into major accomplishments for the state.

47th District Representative Chip Baltimore says this session should be declared a success.  He states that through bipartisan support and everyone working together that they accomplished passing property tax, education and health care reform.  Baltimore adds that they managed to balance the budget while not spending more than what the state takes in and utilizing one-time funds to benefit all Iowans.

“We did a great job of making sure we were putting the interest of Iowans first, that we funded the things that we were suppose to fund.  That we were fiscally prudent with the dollars we spent and at the same time, we changed the landscape of the future of Iowa in terms of property taxes, health care and education.”

He comments that he’s looking forward to seeing the changes get implemented over the course of time and that what they accomplished in Des Moines isn’t a quick, easy fix.  He says he’s very happy with how everything went this session.  They accomplished what they promised Iowans which is a satisfying feeling, Baltimore adds.
