Jefferson Police DeptThe Jefferson Police Department has released information from the most recent Iowa Special Traffic Enforcement Program.

Captain Mark Clouse reports that from May 20th-June 2nd, officers issued 133 warnings and 17 citations to motorists.  Seatbelt violations had the most warnings issued at 40.  The most written citations were for other traffic violations.  There were zero citations and warnings made for operating while intoxicated.

Captain Clouse says that for that two week time period, police officers investigated six traffic accidents and assisted two motorists with vehicle malfunctions.

He notes that six patrol officers worked several locations within Jefferson during the sTEP wave program.

The next sTEP wave will be during the week of the 4th of July.
