Due due a lack of numbers on the part of the Colfax-Mingo baseball program, the Tigerhawks and Greene County Rams will play one varsity game only at 5:30 p.m. today in Jefferson at Allensworth Field. The action was originally scheduled to be a JV/varsity twin bill, but it’s one varsity game only. The Rams may not mind an early evening after playing two games, and losing two, on Wednesday night in Prairie City vs. PCM. The marathon took nearly six hours to complete and it was also the longest road trip of the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference schedule for Greene County. C-M defeated the Rams 8-0 the first time the teams met on May 31 in Colfax.

Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams will be up and at ’em early Saturday when they open play in the Kuemper Catholic tournament vs. Class 2A seventh ranked Kuemper at Carroll Stadium. Greene County will play either two or three games in the tournament meaning either eight or nine games for the Rams this week. Heading into Friday’s game, Greene County is 1-4 this week and 7-10 overall. The Rams have a 3-7 conference record.
