The tenth-ranked ADM Tigers baseball team won both games against Carlisle and captured the regular season Raccoon River Conference title on Friday night.
Game one featured an offensive display with seven of the nine starters for the Tigers getting at least one hit in a 10-1 blowout victory. ADM tallied 15 hits and stranded seven base runners.
Senior Dylan Nelson shut down the Wildcat bats allowing just four hits for one run over seven innings while striking out ten and walking one.
Game two wasn’t quite as cleanly played, but the Tigers prevailed in a 12-5 win. Game two starter, Kyle Herrick surrendered four hits for three earned runs. He walked two and struck out ten in route to his fourth victory.
ADM and Carlisle combined for 14 errors in the game while the Tigers scored 22 runs and 29 hits in both games combined.
Head Coach Jason Book describes his feelings after the wins and claiming the conference crown.
“It feels great. (I’ve) got to give all the credit to the players and the assistant coaches, they’re the ones that do all the work. All I do is order apparel, make sure we get a bus and get them to the games on time.”
Junior catcher Logan Essy had quite the night, getting on base eight of nine times in both games, even going four-for-four in game one with a double and three RBI’s.
The Tigers are off until Monday when they play against Boone in their conference finale.
