Jeremiah Ellett threw a complete game Friday night in propelling Perry past Carroll 5-1 at Merchants Ballpark in Carroll. Ellett was in control from the beginning, allowing only one run on 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 6 Tiger batters. He was coming off a complete game shut-out of Martensdale St Mary’s on Monday night. The Bluejays scored single runs in the first and second innings. Nic Wilhemi delivered a RBI single in the first while Michael Pentico laid down a suicide squeeze bunt to make it 2-0. The Jays put together a pair of two out RBI hits in the fifth when Blake Lansing and Ben Daniels delivered RBI hits. Sophomore Will Whiton continued his hot stretch finishing 3-3 with a double, RBI and stolen base. Whiton is now 11-13 at the plate in his last 3 games boosting his average to a Raccoon River Conference best 464. Daniels and Lansing each finished with 2 hits apiece. With the win, Ellett improves to 6-2 on the season. Perry is now 14-12 and will travel to Jefferson Saturday for a make up game with the Rams. The JV game will start at 2 with varsity to follow.
